Maruvan
Maruvan, meaning “Forest of the Desert”, is an initiative by Afforestt founded in 2018 near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It serves as a living laboratory for ecological restoration in arid landscapes, rooted in careful observation and deep reading of the land.
We design permanently hydrated landscapes through traditional and contemporary water-harvesting systems—reviving ponds, channels, and wells to restore the natural water cycle. Alongside this, we regenerate grasslands, shrublands, and native forests, bringing back biodiversity and building resilient ecosystems.
By integrating cultural wisdom with ecological science, we offer a replicable model for restoring balance in desert regions.
